Neuraxis Ltd. was established eight years ago by Dr. Steve Mahadeo to address the neurosurgical needs including brain and spine surgery of patients in Trinidad and Tobago. He was later joined by Dr. Robert Ramcharan MBBS, FRCS Ed., DM (Neurosurgery) and together they strive to raise the bar on the standard of healthcare available locally and regionally and provide world-class neurosurgery care.

Patients can now source critical medical care and surgery for themselves or loved ones via Neuraxis locally instead of abroad. Neuraxis Ltd operates in Trinidad with state-of-the-art equipment and a professional and courteous support staff focused on accurate diagnosis and superior patient care.

Dr. Steve V. Mahadeo
BSc. MB BS. FRCS. (England)

Dr. Steve Mahadeo pursued his undergraduate studies at UWI graduating with a MBBS in 1983. Following surgical rotations at Port of Spain General Hospital he completed his post graduate training in the UK and obtained his FRCS (England) in 1991. Dr. Mahadeo completed his initial training in neurosurgery in UK and returned to Trinidad in August 1992.

After working as Registrar in Neurosurgery until December 1997, Dr. Mahadeo served as the consultant in Neurosurgery at the Port of Spain General Hospital for ten years. He now operates in full private practice at St. Clair Medical Centre.

To date, Dr. Mahadeo is one of the top Neurosurgeons in Trinidad, pioneering endovascular treatment of vascular malformation locally along with cervical spinal instrumentation, intracranial tumors, skull base surgery and vascular surgery. He continues to be involved in medical education and has attended numerous training courses and workshops in the UK and USA in minimally invasive surgery and spinal surgery, and continues to update his training with all modern neurosurgical practices.

Dr. Robert Ramcharan
MBBS, FRCS Ed., DM (Neurosurgery)

Dr. Robert Ramcharan graduated from the University of the West Indies Medical School in 1993 where he earned his MBBS. He went on to complete his internship at Port of Spain General Hospital. In 1998 Dr. Ramcharan obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons while working at the National Hospital for Neurosurgery and Neurology in Queen Square, London. He returned to Trinidad where he completed his Doctorate of Medicine (DM) in Neurosurgery from the University of the West Indies.

Subsequently, Dr. Ramcharan completed his specialization in a Fellowship in Spine Surgery from the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. He returned to Trinidad in 2006 where he worked as a consultant neurosurgeon for 3 years at the Regional Health Authority in Trinidad and Tobago. He is fully registered as a specialist with the Trinidad and Tobago Medical Board. His main interests are complex spine surgery, paediatric neurosurgery, intracranial tumours and minimally invasive surgery as well as peripheral nerve surgery.
